Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones (pronounced /ˈziːtə/ "zeeta"; born September 25, 1969) is a Welsh actress based predominantly in the United States. She began her career on stage at an early age. After starring in a number of UK and US television films and small roles in films, she came to prominence with roles in Hollywood movies such as The Phantom, The Mask of Zorro, and Entrapment in the late 1990s. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for portraying Velma Kelly in the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago, making her the first and only Welsh actress to win in that category. Zeta-Jones is married to Michael Douglas, who is exactly 25 years older than she is. They have two children – Dylan (named after Dylan Thomas) and Carys.

Zeta-Jones' stage career began in childhood. She often performed at friends and family functions when she was younger. She was a part of a Catholic congregation's performing troupe before she was 10. During this time Zeta-Jones made her professional acting debut when she played the lead in Annie, a production at Swansea's Grand Theater. She also starred in a version of Bugsy Malone. At 14, Mickey Dolenz (of "The Monkees" fame) was visiting Wales and stopped by the Grand Theater to audition her for The Pyjama Game. He was so impressed with her performance that she was offered the opportunity to join his show for the rest of the tour. By 1987 Zeta-Jones was starring in 42nd Street as Peggy Sawyer in the West End. She also played Mae Jones in a Kurt Weill opera called Street Scene with English National Opera at the London Coliseum in 1989 . Once the show closed, the actress travelled to France, where she received the lead role in French director Philippe de Broca's 1001 Nights (also known as Sheherazade), her feature film debut.

Salma Hayek Photos

Around the year 2000, Hayek founded production company Ventanarosa, through which she produces film and television projects. Her first feature as a producer was 1999's El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba, Mexico's official selection for submission for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.[11]

Frida, co-produced by Hayek, was released in 2002. Starring Hayek as Frida Kahlo, and Alfred Molina as her unfaithful husband, Diego Rivera, the film was directed by Julie Taymor and featured an entourage of stars in supporting and minor roles (Valeria Golino, Ashley Judd, Edward Norton, Geoffrey Rush) and cameos (Antonio Banderas). She earned a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her performance.[6] This made Hayek, along with Katy Jurado and Adriana Barraza, one of only three Mexican actresses to have been nominated for an Academy Award. The film earned two Oscars.

In 2003 she produced and directed the The Maldonado Miracle, a Showtime movie which won her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children/Youth/Family Special.[12] In December 2005, she directed a music video for Prince, titled "Te Amo Corazon" ("I love you, sweetheart") that featured her good friend Mia Maestro.[13]

Hayek is an executive producer of Ugly Betty, a television series airing around the world since September 2006. Hayek adapted the series for American television with Ben Silverman, who acquired the rights and scripts from the Colombian telenovela Yo Soy Betty La Fea in 2001. Originally intended as a half hour sitcom for NBC in 2004, the project would later be picked up by ABC for the 2006–2007 season with Silvio Horta also producing. Hayek guest-starred on Ugly Betty as Sofia Reyes, a magazine editor. She also had a cameo playing an actress in the telenovela within the show. The show quickly became a ratings hit and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series in 2007. Hayek's performance as Sofia resulted in a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards.
[14] In April 2007, Hayek finalized negotiations with MGM to become the CEO of her own Latin themed film production company, Ventanazul.
[15] The following month she signed a two year deal with ABC to develop projects for the network through her production company, Ventanarosa.

Janet Jackson's new album

Janet Jackson's flop album

London, June 7 (IANS) Janet Jackson has another album flop on her hands - bosses at her record label have ceased promoting 'Discipline' and there are no more single releases planned.

Contactmusic.com reports that the US singer, who once broke chart records with seven US top five hits from one album - 'Rhythm Nation 1812' - has scored only one hit from her new release, 'Feedback'.

In an e-mail to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Jackson writes: 'We started off with 'Feedback' and the label and myself haven't quite seen eye to eye since the 'Feedback' single so they've kind of basically stopped all promotion.

'I'm trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album, so I don't think you're going to hear another single from this album.'

At the height of her popularity, Jackson scored 19 hit singles from just three albums - 'Control', 'Rhythm Nation: 1812' and 'Janet'. And she still holds the record for scoring number ones in America from the same album, over three successive years.

Hollywood entertainment NEWS-Funny Hollywood Videos

Published: June 4, 2008

Can two of Hollywood’s most innovative executives help MSN become a player in advertiser-supported entertainment on the Web? MSN, the Microsoft portal, is betting millions of dollars that the answer is yes.

MSN said Tuesday that it had signed an agreement with BermanBraun, a Los Angeles production company founded in March 2007 by Gail Berman, formerly a top executive at Paramount Pictures and Fox Broadcasting, and Lloyd Braun, who previously led divisions of the Walt Disney Company and Yahoo.

BermanBraun will develop and maintain an entertainment-focused Web site — the company calls it a “destination” site — within the MSN portal. The new site, as yet unnamed, is scheduled to make its debut in early 2009. It will blend advertising with entertainment news, games and original video programming.

Essentially, BermanBraun has been hired to help program and sell advertising for a television network — except that this network is a Web site.

Many companies are trying to figure out how to make entertainment for the Web that attracts both a sizable audience and significant advertising commitments via product placements. What makes this effort stand out is the executives involved.

Neither executive would comment for this article, but each has a history of breaking ground in advertiser-integrated entertainment. During Ms. Berman’s tenure at Fox the network developed “American Idol,” creating as much of a product placement phenomenon, with its integration of advertisers like Coca-Cola and Ford, as a pop culture one.

Mr. Braun oversaw the development of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” the hit ABC reality series that features prominent product plugs.

BermanBraun will sell ads for the site in partnership with MSN, according to an advertising executive who was briefed on the plans but who asked for anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
