Me too in the same boat. I have EFiled EAD renewal on May 21st and a LUD on July 31st due to my address change. No idea how long should I wait. Thouht of taking info pass but looks like one of the option is saying "if EAD pending more than 90 days" So I should wait another 5 days before I take an info pass. I am planning to take the recent USCIS memo where it talks about interim EAD and see what they say about it.

The British were a bit smarter;). Here we have problems explaining to the average American (which include the officials of our Senators and Congressmen), the difference between h1B and Green card. Everytime I send a fax to the Senator regarding the Green Card, i get a reply about how they do or do not support H1Bs.
In this whole flower sending campaign, we want the message to be LOUD AND CLEAR. Gandhigiri alone did not drive the British out of India and even if it did, let us not forget in that case the British were on Indian soil, here we are doing Gandhigiri in another country ON THEIR SOIL!!

This is indeed a gloomy and (in my view credible) story. The only thing possibly that can help us within the current laws, is the visa overflow from EB1 and EB2 ROW.

I filed my I485/EAD/AP on August 7, 2007. Does this mean that I do not have to pay any fee for EAD renewal now ?
The instructions say this -
Special Instructions :
If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485.
Yes if u paid using the new HUGE fees, then u dont have to pay.
Thats the reason they increased the fees. So you have to pay only once.
As per my lawyer "DO AS WHAT THEY SAY IN INSTRUCTIONS" and always keep a copy of everything sent, including postage receipts, delivery confirmation etc.

The poor response is because we are not together and we truly do not believe in our goal. With the assumption that 90% of IV members are Indians, I can safely say this is innate in our culture - we want to get the benefit without working for it AND once we get the benefit, we give a damn about the rest of "them". :mad:
Just my 2 cents here: Our culture has its place. Being conservative with our money has served us very well today so let us not disparage it. For raising funds from our community we should have more convincing behavior, actions and arguments. Generating trust and goodwill is very important.
To get peoples' trust it is important to be patient and welcome questions and respect others' views, and always answer in best manner possible. But until now i did not receive any confirmation notice..

dont want to judge ur sentiments, but think about this.
if GOD only cares abt people who constantly praises god, then muslim countries should do way way better :D they pray so many times a day. nobody follows religion and GOD like muslims do :D, not even hard core christians :D. even hindus pray a lot. US growth is clearly not due to the things u mentioned :D. its due to their relentless pursuit of growth. along with GOD US also believes in 'free will'. btw, i am not atheist, but just AGNOSTIC.

'The soldiers dashed for whatever shelter they could find, and after the rain had passed, some of the men returned to the vicinity of the bonfire to discover that three of the dummies had been consumed by the flames but the effigy of George Washington remained intact, as good as it ever was. The symbolism was not lost on the foreigners; as a British deserter relayed the story, the incident caused a great deal of fear among the Hessian troops, most of whom are very superstitious."

The reason why most people end up with such situations is that the employers don�t file for H1 extensions on time. Though the law allows filing of H1 extensions upto 6 months before its expiry, most employers file for extensions only at the last moment. It�s advisable to go for premium processing in such cases, so as to get the approvals on time.
You can apply H1 extn earlier than 6 months. Mine was expiring in Sep 07. I applied on Jan 5th 07. Got 7-8-9 year extn in April.

I think chandu and paskal in their subsequent msgs got my point exactly that we should promote happy <festival> of all regions/traditions rather than focusing on the majority one.
That would promote IV's agenda rather than distract from it.

You can't get more than 10K people to sign up to IV.
And you can't get more than 300 people to sign up for $20 per month.
What makes you think you can convince 20-30K people to move with you?

If there is unity, and all of us walk out with all our money, this would definitely get the attention of the lawmakers.
I suggested the same action last year. Right now, waiting for 485 (EB 2 LC took close to 6 years) - but I feel if 20-30K of us left (and take our money with us too, don't leave it here to work for this country) because we are being screwed by the stupid immigration laws, that will have a bigger impact in changing the laws than any lobbying effort possibly would.

My wife got her h1 approval in Oct 2007. She hasnt been on any project, nor has she received any stubs. i want her to convert to h4 again as she is pregnant. If she goes to India to get her H4 stamped what docs does she need? will there be any problems?

I filed my I485 in 08/05 and my labor date is 07/05 in perm. My I140 got approved in 2007.
I was in bench for around 6 months in 2008 starting from Jan 1st to 06/20th. I took full time position in last week of 06/08 and continuing in the same job. I got RFE on my I485 and asked for employment verification in 12/09. My attorney replied with presnt employment letter and applied for AC21 also at the same time. Now i got another RFE asking for last 5 years employment letter, w-2 forms and tax returns.
Can some one please let me know how i can handle the period that i was in bench in 2008.

- I dont think you need to have "continuous employment". (I am assuming that you were not any employement visa (H1) during the "bench period"
- You already have EVL letter that states that "a permanent job -same or similar- is ready for you once you get your GC"--that is your AC21
- Your 485 was filed way before "bench period".
- During the bench period if you were only with "pending 485 authorized period of stay" (ie. not on H visa), you were not "required" to maintain employment any way. (If you were on any employment visa, you are out of status during that period).
So my advise: Just submit all the documents related to your employment history. Do not lie or falsify any information. You will be just fine.
Again, this is just my opinion. Follow the lawyer's advise.
