Could I use a MiniDV camera for video input (ignoring its microphone) but a USB microphone for sound input at the same time in iMovie?
Off the top of my head I believe you would only be able to import the video and audio from the DV camera at the same time, you would need to use an external mic which was connected to the camera itself or add in your mic sound in post.

I've installed OpenOffice.org for OS X, and when I save files in MS-office formats (.xls, .doc, etc) they do not have any icon assigned to them. If I save in the native open-doc format, the icons appear. When I double-click the .xls files, they will open automatically with OpenOffice, but the icons are still blank.
How can I get these icons to be correct?

The upright version of this one that was at my university's arcade got many a quarter from me. "Entering Sector 1... Point... 2." :D
I would have bought the sit-down one for that price, too. Some collectors would have paid more, just to get a working vector CRT.

Or they did a lot of stuff with it already, just not showing it yet. Since the current release of FCP does not use QTX, they don't need to release the updated API before the next gen FCP. I really doubt Apple just shelved the whole QTX after doing a rewrite for SL, they must have been iterating it since then.

Apple took what was previously a $25,000 color grading application and tossed it into the Final Cut Suite at no extra charge.

While Premiere doesn't have any first part codecs along the same lines as ProRes it is more flexible and open to third party codecs than FCP is. So what do you have against teachers making more? If teachers made more competitive salaries, there would be more competition for teaching jobs, thus leading to better quality teachers, ultimately resulting in better education.
I'd rather spend an extra $100/yr for better teachers rather than helping to pay for Tom Cruise's 39 estates.

The old guys in the second video are a little mistaken. The "432" badge on the side of the Fairlady has nothing to do with cubic inches. In fact, they were only 2.0L engines (122ci). The "Fairlady Z 432" was simply a special, limited version of the normal Fairlady. The 432 number stood for the "4 valve, 3 carb, 2 cam" specs of the 6-cylinder engine. This is similar to what Oldsmobile did with the 60's 442, which stood for "4-barrel carb, 4-speed trans, dual exhaust". The Z in the video has a more modern RB25 Skyline engine in it, whereas the original Z 432 came with the then-current Skyline S20 2.0L, 6-cylinder engine.

at 18 i knew what the risks were .. i already knew at 15 as well .. i doubt my parents would have had a problem with staying at a girls house (i didn't do it since i had a girlfriend untill later) and they wouldn't have been able to stop me either ;)

All of this 'what about the Mac' stuff is a little harsh. If Steve's got an Octo-Core Mac Pro coming in a few weeks, then he's not going to say so now.
While I see your point on that, Dell is already offering computer configs that have dual quad core chips. Granted, they say they're not shipping for a while, but people can go there and know they've got an octo core coming, where with Apple we're still having to guess- will it happen, what kind of specs can we expect, and most importantly, how much?
